I used to hate makeup. I really did. I thought that makeup was useless and only made me look worse. I later realized that it was not the makeup’s problem. I just didn’t know how to do my makeup. I expected it to come out perfectly when i was just a beginner.
After entering High School and seeing all my friends’ perfect makeups I decided to try doing makeup again. Although it was only recently that I had the confidence to practice my makeup. This, while I was in Canada. Since people there are less judgmental, I wasn’t scared to have a bad makeup look.
Anyway, I’ve been consistently doing my makeup now for over a year and these are some things that I’ve learned on the way that I wished someone had told me before.
PREP FOR FOUNDATION: One of the things that I hated the most about makeup was the texture of the foundation on the skin. I just didn’t see the point in using it if it was only gonna make your skin look worse. But if you know how to use it you can achieve pretty good results. (And looks).
1. Always MOISTURIZE the skin first.
It would be better to wash your face and do your skincare routine before but moisturizing is the bare minimum you should do in order to get good results. This will help with the texture of the makeup. If the skin is properly hydrated, when the foundation dries, you will barely notice the difference with the skin.
2. AFTER moisturizing, you should put SUNSCREEN on. NEVER FORGET THE SUNSCREEN.
This will protect your skin from sunlight damage. Sun damage is one of the main factors involved on skin aging. UV light debilitates the skin, producing wrinkles, fine lines, moles etc. The use of sunscreen will keep your skin strong and protected.
3. Try to use a THIN, LIGHT COVERAGE foundation. This will make your skin look homogeneous, help with the texture and you will get better, more natural results.
4. LEAVE the CONCEALER on the dark spots to dry out a little while you do the other parts of your makeup. Blend gently starting by going around on the corners of the blemish and at the end just dab over the middle of it. VERY GENTLY.
5. After applying the foundation you would not like to accidentally remove it by blending the bronzer or blush incorrectly. To blend the bronzer or blush TAP softly UPWARDS in CIRCULAR MOTIONS.
I hope you find these tips helpful on your makeup routine. See you on the next post.
